Alas She’s Mine

Image

She doesn’t have a lot of friends

Because she finds it hard to be nice,

I suppose she’s had a decent boyfriend

Once or maybe twice,

She couldn’t be the bell of the ball

Shes one of the flowers attached to the wall

But, she is mine,

No one else’s, just mine,

I see beauty in her that no one else can,

Even when she hits me with that damned frying pan,

Love can really hurt you know!

Babies

Image

You could have had my babies, he whispers

I stop and think for a second,

Passion fills my heart,

Yes I could have had your babies,

I think  with a wry smile.

Hundreds of them, actually.

The way I feel about you.

I see them all lined up and it makes me laugh.

But when is life like that, I say

When is life that perfect.

In a book of Fairy-tales you say,

The one we haven’t read  yet.

Gone

Image

I touched your face,

It felt so cold,

You lay there so silent, so still,

Our hearts had been broken into tiny pieces,

I felt the stubble on your chin,

How could it grow when you were gone?

Young At Heart

Image

I’d rather be a pasty white,

Pale like a sheet in the dead of night,

Brown to a crisp is just not me,

I’d rather not look crinkly you see,

I’ll hold on to my youth for as long as I can,

Keep the gray at bay and use fake tan,

I’ll drink gallons of water instead of wine,

The admiring glances will all be mine,

I’ll go dancing till dawn in all the best places,

And laugh with delight at the look on their faces,

I’ll always be young, well at least in my heart,

Now I’ll put my false teeth in,

That’s a good way to start

A Saturday Night

Image

The band plays,

You hold me tight,

Just another perfect night,

I’ll never let this moment go,

Caught in my heart till I am old,

What a man I’ve found in you,

Loving, gentle, kind and true,

Lets hope it stands the test of time

Then I’ll be yours and you’ll stay mine
